People love to speculate about which state has the best and worst drivers. But are there statistics that address this argument? The answer is yes, but different reports say different things. At Hansen Injury Law Firm, we strive to help drivers in Idaho stay safe on the road. So, this post summarizes some statistics about Idaho drivers, and how to avoid serious accidents.
Idaho Drivers: Good or Bad?
The insurance company Allstate compiles an annual report on drivers across the country. This report includes the country’s 200 largest cities and metro areas. According to the most recent report, Boise drivers are among the safest in the nation. Specifically, the city ranked #5 on the list of safest drivers. This report uses data like seatbelt usage and tickets for distracted driving to calculate its results.
While the Allstate report celebrated Idaho drivers, others tell a different story. The company QuoteWizard analyzed DUIs, speeding tickets, accidents, and other numbers to determine their driving rankings. Out of all the states, Idaho ranked as the 14th most dangerous to drive in. So, according to two different reports, Idaho drivers are either very safe or somewhat dangerous.
No matter what our ranking, the best way to make Idaho’s roads safer is to be a good driver. If everybody on the road paid close attention to safety, Idaho would definitely be the safest place to drive in the country.
